Raised to Life Conference Prayer & Fasting Guide

October 1st - October 23rd

"Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly." Joel 2:15

What is the purpose of fasting together as the body of Christ?

We fast to put our own agendas aside and focus on the presence and glory of God.  The church as the body of Christ with Jesus as the head together seeks to hear from God.  Fasting is a spiritual time that is directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit.  Fasting helps deepen our relationship with god, our father, the son Jesus and Holy Spirit.

Why should I fast?

Fasting draws us neared to God.  It releases spiritual freedom and revelation from God.  It helps us shift our focus and reliance from a worldly perspective to God's.

When we fast corporately as a church, we can accomplish something much bigger than ourselves.  We are all on a journey and God wants to be at the center of it. He wants us to function as one.  When we fast together, it brings unity in the spirit.  Unity is one of the key elements to His presence and resurrection power!

Prayer

When we fast, we must also make it a priority to spend time in prayer.  Many times in life we use prayer as our last line of defense, but it needs to be a regular habit.  Fasting can help us with this spiritual discipline.  The Lord tells us in Matthew 21:13 "My house will be called a house of prayer..."
